For some time now we've all been running on a list of assumed rules, and this is fine, but recently we've been getting some new players that don't quite know what the rules are, and there really is no place to find an official, thorough list. I would like to change that by typing out all the rules that I can think of that we need. I will be putting these up for a vote as well and you can suggest things you would like seen added or removed below. Anyways, rules below:

1. No modifying or destroying other player's structures without the owners consent. Harmless pranks that don't cause permanent damage are allowed, however.

2. Do not take anything from any chest you may see unless otherwise stated. Even if you find a chest out in the middle of no where, do not take anything from it. Stores that have signs stating payment must be followed. Chests that say the items are free may be taken from if the player who placed the sign is the same player that placed the chest and items. Personal agreements between players are exempt from this rule.

3. Any farm built in spawn must be made public. This includes food farms, iron farms, animal farms, and anything that is automatic that uses the spawn chunks. Anything made OUTSIDE of the spawn chunks is allowed to be made private.

4. Spawn is the only place that stores are allowed to be made. This is to promote community and help grow spawn.

5. Randomly killing players is forbidden. PvP is allowed ONLY if previously agreed on. This includes fights between friends. Duels may also occur, however, be sure that a full agreement is established before the duel (i.e. Are you playing for keeps or returning items?). Mods will not interfere with duels nor return items so long as the duel agreements are followed. For example, if a duel occurs where items are supposed to be returned, but a player does not return them, then Mods will intervene.

6. Creeper explosions happen, and may be rolled back if it matches the following criteria: a. The explosion happened in spawn. b. The explosion happened in someone's base that you are visiting. Creeper explosions will not be rolled back if you purposely set them off, or it destroys your own structures. This is a vanilla server and we try to keep it as such as much as possible.

7. Teleporting of any kind (except for vanilla: portals, beds, etc) will not occur. We do not have /home, /tp, or /spawn. The only exception to this rule is for mods to help players as needed, but the mod MUST use /back once they are finished helping.

8. Xrays, Ore Finders, Cave Finders, Full Bright, Flying, or any type of mod that gives you an advantage over other players is strictly forbidden. Minimaps are allowed, granted they are SMP friendly and do not have mob locators or cave maps. Visual ONLY mods are allowed, such as shaders or Optifine. If you are unsure if a mod you are using is allowed, please post below.

9. Do not spam or advertise in chat. Posting safe links are allowed, but please ask a mod first if you can. Posting malicious links on the forums or in-game is a bannable offence.

10. Building in spawn is allowed, but please note that spawn has standards. Poorly built structures, or structures that remain unfinished for a long period of time will be torn down. The materials will be placed in a chest and must be claimed by the owner, otherwise the items will be made available to all. Please keep spawn pretty and clean. If you need help building in spawn, please ask.

11. Harassment or bullying is forbidden. This is a PG server, so curse words may be said every now and then, but excessive cursing, racist or sexist remarks, or anything that degrades another person will result in a mute and possibly a ban. Mods have the right to judge if something is mute worthy and can mute for a length of time that is fitting.

12. Anything not on this list that is deemed kick, mute, or ban-worthy may still be dealt with accordingly. This list does not include every possible offence, so use your common sense. Generally, if you follow the rules above, you will be fine.

Many of these rules may be ignored if there are personal agreements between players. For example, if two or more players make an agreement that destroying each other's bases and killing each other is allowed, then ONLY those players within the agreement may ignore said rules. Anyone outside the agreement may not partake in (unless added in) nor may be effected by the agreement.

I dont think we should really add any kinda of rules, or just have one rule: Use common sense.

Creating a set of rules will just destroy the friendly community we have ;C

How so? These are all rules that people follow already anyways. Having them written down just lets new people know what to expect.

I disagree Pay. I don't see how have a few, very sensible rules would make anyone unfriendly. Plus the people already playing, follow this rules without question, so it doesn't even affect them.

Rule 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 maybe 9 too are not being used right now... And I think we dont need this rules and for example rule 5 will make the game less fun for me.

Having rules like this will create problems were you are actually breaking the rules and people will get mad even though you were doing it before setting them has official rules

Toatally agree with volf and t4t, we play with this rules anyway. Rule #5 might be a bit restrictive, i sometimes find fun to start a little pvp if i find a random player somewhere, not to the point where i kill him, but sometimes a little sniping with my bow, things like that where if the other player doesnt want you to continue he can just run away or tell you via chat

I like the rules but rule 5 will be hard definitely will be hard for me and probaly for other players.

Also me and my friends do so now and then take stuff from each other and we dont bother about it that much ._. (just us; Mike25ml and volly63) (just saying)

Rule #1 and #2 are bannable offences. They are considered griefing and stealing, but if someone does it to your stuff I'll be sure to let them.

Rule #4 is to help promote community. I don't see why it's a problem anyways, as every single store in existance right now is in spawn anyways. But sure, build your store hundreds or thousands of blocks away. I'm sure you'll get plenty of customers.

Rule #5 has always been a rule. It was a rule in the last map as well, and if you guys actually read it it says "Killing is forbidden". If it's between friends however, I don't care. "If an agreement is made before-hand then this rule may be overridden." This is just to prevent random killing and people stealing items.

Rule #6 is basically common sense, and has been how Creeper explosions have been handled anyways.

Rule #7 has been in effect since the new map was started. This is a VANILLA server.

Rule #8 You're kidding right? I really hope I don't have to ban you for cheating.

Rule #9 Another common sense rule. If someone needs to be muted they will be.


These rules are not that restrictive. We are a community-based server and these rules are to help promote that.

Killing is forbidden. However, harassment is also against the rules. If someone tells you to stop, please stop.

1 and 2 are depend a lot on the person. I wouldnt mind someone changing my building if it isnt grief, also this rule doesnt accept the existence of pranks. Also I would have no problem with people taking stuff from my chest if they leave a little note or if it wasnt too bad. If you consider this a community based server then the rules will always endup be moral guided, I dont find a need for the existence of this rules if in the end of the day you just say: Oh but you can choose not to follow them ( in case you are the person getting your build changed or items "stolen" )

rule 4 I was actually thinking about opening a shop at the wither farm but nvm ._.

rule 5 has the same problem, it will end up being a moral choice in both players to get offended with the killing or not. So the existence of the rules wont be any useful.

rule 6 is silly, this is a vanilla server, you let a creeper blow something you pay and you fix, you dont get a mod to rollback because it was someones base

rule 7 I have seen vihrul tp around to play around and then going back to where he was, a rule that is applied to the people that makes the rules doesnt even make much sense

Sorry about rule 8 I did a mistake there ;v Dont worry I dont use hacks ._.

And again in rule 9 you go to common sense.. I really dont get why we need those if in the end we will just ban players on common sense..

Ok I think you're complaining about nothing. Instead we should be productive here. This is my opinion on each rule.

Rule 1 - This is a basic rule I agree with completely, but I do think it needs to have something said somewhere about whats allowed as for pranks. Everyone enjoys a good non-destructive prank.

Rule 2 - I think the statement "without permission of the chest's owner" needs to be added. Sharing with friends promotes community, which is what I believe we're looking for.

Rule 3 - This rule was already voted on so I think it should be instated.

Rule 4 - I agree with this too. Sorry Pay, but you'd get better business having your wither shop at spawn anyways.

Rule 5 - I think the statement is wrong. Maybe it should say it less demanding? Something like "PvP is only allowed if all parties agree before hand." I dislike randomly being killed, so you guys can disagree but I joined the server because it was non-pvp based.

Rule 6 - I could careless, but maybe the rolling back should be limited more. Just to spawn buildings and other people's chests (if they could lose something?)

Rule 7 - This should definitely be a rule, the fact that it has a clause about Mods using it affects no one but Mods, so who cares.

Rule 8 - Just don't cheat.

Rule 9 - Muting people when they are out of line is way better then just banning someone right off the bat, I like this rule personally.

Rule 10 - Keeping spawn looking nice is in everyone's best interest, good call on the rule.

Rule 11 - Standard rule.

Rule 12 - I got nothing =]


And finally, Pay the reason to have the "common sense" rules are that not everyone has common sense. Someone like you may not need to read rules like this but there are plenty of people out there that need to be reminded, and instead of them getting banned because they don't know how we play already, how about we just let them know with a few basic rules?

Most of the rules don't affect how we play now, so I have no problem with them being used. I think you had a great idea in making the list and then looking for everyone's input before just instating them. =]

Rule #2 has the statement "unless otherwise stated". This covers shops that have signs naming prices, chests that say free items, or a personal agreement between players.

Rule #5 will be reworded, but it does say that the rule can be over-ridden if previously agreed upon. This included between friends, duels, and what-not. The clause at the end is to protect players. If you plan on fighting someone in say, a duel, make sure you know if you're playing for keeps or returning items. This was a problem on the last map with people fighting but not fully establishing the bases of the fight. The main part of the rule is basically don't kill people randomly just because, and the the last part of it is saying that if you want to fight you still can.
